As you would understand, working around fire, trees and water can cause all sorts of problems with electrical, mechanical and personal equipment. Tires get spiked, fittings wear out, protective clothing gets torn or damaged and radios can get bumped.

Every fire season see wear and tear on our equipment. This means that it constantly needs replacing or repair.

This is on top of regular maintenance costs associated with ensuring that our fire fighting equipment is readily available to respond to an incident.

Why do we need your help?

A steady cash flow is vital to keep the brigade running effectively. The rural fire levy collected by Gold Coast City Council on the brigade's behalf represents less than one third of the brigade's annual expenditure.

This current financial year we will be purchasing a new light attack vehicle to replace Mudgeeraba 41.  While the brigade will receive a subsidy from the State Government, the remaining 20% of the purchase price or approximately $12,000 will be funded by the brigade.

In addition to the new vehicle we are installing at siginificant cost to the brigade a GPS tracking system that will improve fire fighter safety and fire fighting effectiveness by providing command personnel with vital information relating to the location of all Gold Coast based rural fire fighting appliances.

Fund raising is very important to the brigade and a local resident, Dr David Straton has kicked off an idea in which we encourage locals to particpate:
